In 1989, SouthWest Plumbing Supply (SWPS) was founded by Garth O. Green in Cedar City, Utah. After 20 years as a commercial banker and with no experience in the plumbing supply industry, Garth ventured forth as an entrepreneur. Eighteen years later, SWPS is a full line plumbing, waterworks, HVAC, and irrigation supplier, servicing all of Utah, Northern Arizona, and Eastern Nevada.

After a modest beginning as a small local plumbing supply center located in Cedar City, Utah, SWPS took advantage of new opportunities and soon expanded into multiple operations. The first venture was delivering to surrounding rural areas. Next was the creation of a sister company, Cooling Heating Supply (CHS) in Cedar City. After CHS, SWPS began expanding into other areas, adding branches in Price, Utah in 1997, Ephraim, Utah in 2000, and Page, Arizona in 2001. In 2005, SWPS expanded into Northern Utah with the opening of the newest branch near Provo, Utah.

SWPS is still a family owned and operated business. In 2005, Garth O. Green turned over the operation to two of his children and one long time employee. His son, Mike Green is President of Corporate Operations. Another son, Jeff Green, is President of the Southern Division. Ryan Nelson, a long-time employee, is President of the Northern Division.

The company plans to continue expansion in 2006 and beyond, opening new branches within a 250 mile radius of its distribution center, which opened in 2004 in Cedar City, Utah. SWPS saw the opening of it's e-Bay store in 2006, which provides below wholesale pricing of a wide range of plumbing related products and special purchase items intended for a world wide market.

SWPS's target market is the professional contractor working in the various fields that uses the many products SWPS carries. Our motto of "TIME = MONEY, SAVE SOME!" is more than just a slogan, it's our goal! From our advanced technology that includes bar code invoicing, locations nearest to the construction site, open shelving for customers to browse and "find it yourself", to the fastest delivery crew in the industry, speed is our goal.

Our logo, showing a red rock mountain with the sun setting behind it, signifies our rural area of the Southwestern United States. With our slogan and delivery trucks painted like race cars as well as our stores set up with road signs directing traffic to the fastest stop available, we are passionate about being a great supply house that is faster than our competitors.

Representing major manufacturers such as Moen, Delta, Bradford White, Reed, Lasco, Milwaukee, and Insinkerator, SWPS is a major regional supplier of plumbing products. We have brand names such as Fertile Earth, Hit, Weathermatic, and K-rain in the sprinkler world. For waterworks, brands such as AVK American, Watts, EBAA Iron, Star, and A.Y. McDonald. In HVAC, we carry M&G DuraVent, Monessen, ADP, Hart & Cooley, as well as fireplaces from Mendota.
